We anticipate removing this flood warning later this afternoon and are in contact with the City of Doncaster Council about the reopening of Jubilee Bridge. We are closely monitoring the forecasts and river levels. Please take care when near washlands and low-lying land, which could be flooded. Levels on the river Don at Fishlake have been steadily rising through this morning, Wednesday 3rd January 2024, following yesterday’s persistent heavy rainfall. River levels will remain high on the Lower Don catchment today but are now falling upstream at Doncaster. We currently expect the river to peak at Fishlake from 12:30 to 15:30 this afternoon, before starting to slowly fall later today and overnight into Thursday.
Despite further unsettled weather over the coming days, with showers at times, no significant further river response is forecast and levels are expected to steadily fall through the rest of the week. We will be closely monitoring the forecasts and river levels.

Pumps have been deployed in the area and we will continue our pumping operations throughout today.
While the current overall risk is greatly reduced, further rainfall is forecast today, 24/10/2023. As such, we expect river levels to begin to respond and rise again during the afternoon and into the evening, peaking in the early hours of Wednesday 25/10/23. A band of rain has now moved across South Yorkshire and scattered showers are forecast overnight tonight moving into the morning of Friday 15th November. There is reduced floodplain capacity and given the wet ground conditions, the River Don and its main inflows are currently rising in response to this rain. The River level is forecast to peak at around 9am on the 15th of November. River levels are expected to peak much lower than those seen on the 7th and 8th of November and are not currently forecast to result in further overtopping of river banks and defences. The Leeds incident room remains open and we will be closely monitoring the situation.

Rain is moving across South Yorkshire today (14/11/2019), which will be followed by showers into tomorrow. The River Don is forecast to peak at Doncaster between 06:00-09:00am tomorrow, but levels are not currently expected to reach the levels seen last week. We have deployed pumps and people to reduce levels at Fishlake, and increase the capacity of washlands. As a precaution, the military are supporting Doncaster Council to sandbag areas affected by flooding last week, to provide additional protection.
