There is further unsettled weather forecast for the week ahead, so we are continuing to closely monitor the situation, and our incident response staff are actively checking river levels and the weather forecast. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and bridges near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may still be flooded. River levels have risen sharply on the River Sow and Penk following the heavy rainfall this afternoon (Sunday 27 May). There is the potential for thunderstorms to continue until 9pm this evening across the midlands. These thunderstorms could result in the rapid rising of river levels and the rapid flooding of low lying land and roads. Flooding of property from rivers is possible and please note river levels are rising rapidly. We are continuing to monitor the situation closely, liaising with our professional partners, and have staff out checking for and clearing blockages.
