River Waveney
This message has been issued because there is a risk of flooding of homes and businesses through the evening and night of Monday 28th December, into Tuesday 29th December 2020. This is due to a natural tide-locking effect in the Norfolk Broads. Areas most at risk are in Belton, Geldeston and Beccles. Roads likely to be affected include Station Road in Geldeston, the A145 and the A146 through Beccles, the A143 at Haddiscoe and St Olaves, and the railway line at Haddiscoe. A combination of tide locking and high fluvial flows into the broads will see continued high water levels around high water this evening and into Tuesday 29th December. These high levels are expected continue for the next few days. It is likely that we may need to issue more warning messages for a wider area, over the next few hours. Be ready to take action to protect your property if flooding is expected. We are monitoring the situation and will update this message as necessary.
