The rainfall will clear by the early hours of tomorrow morning on Wednesday 09/10/2024. Flooding is forecast to affect low lying land near rivers in the early hours of the morning on the Wednesday the 09/10/2024. Property flooding is unlikely but remains possible. We are prepared to issue Flood Warnings if required. Plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are out on the ground checking and clearing any blockages and debris from the river. This Flood Alert has been issued as we expect heavy rainfall overnight to lead to some flooding. Flooding to low lying land and roads is forecast during the early morning tomorrow, Thursday 21 October. The first flooding is expected from approximately 1am, continuing throughout the morning. Flooding is likely in multiple areas along rivers in the area, particularly around Horley. Any low lying areas near rivers could be affected, smaller watercourses will respond more quickly. There is currently some uncertainty in where the heaviest rain will fall so some areas may only see raised river levels and no flooding. Further showers are possible during Thursday, leading to some continued flooding into the evening. Locations of likely flooding include areas around Bonehurst Bridge and Salfords. In some locations river levels have already fallen below the levels we would expect them to cause flooding, but standing floodwaters and debris may remain. River levels are high and steady following the rainfall yesterday and overnight. Consequently, the risk of flooding remains. Further rainfall is forecast over the next 8 hours which may cause river levels to rise again. Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point. We expect river levels to remain high until at least tomorrow morning, Thursday 28th November. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are out on the ground checking and clearing any blockages and debris from rivers and our operating our structures and defences. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near watercourses and remain aware of your local situation. This message will be updated this evening, 27/11/2019 by 8pm, or as the situation changes.

Ifield Brook, River Mole, Gatwick Stream, Burstow Stream
River levels have risen on the Upper River Mole and its tributaries of Ifield Brook, Gatwick, Burstow and Salford Streams . This is as a result of persistent rainfall over the last few days and overnight. Consequently, flooding of roads and low lying land near the river Mole and its tributaries in this area is expected between 6am today and 1pm tomorrow 28/11/19. Further rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. We expect river levels to increase until the evening and remain high for the next 48 hours. Flooding of properties is not expected at this time. We are closely monitoring the situation and our incident response staff are out on the ground checking and clearing any blockages and checking our defences and structures. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. This message will be updated before 2pm today.
