Tuesday's early morning tide at 00:30 on 09/04/2024 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather, with Gale Force 8 South Westerly winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.7 m. The total forecast tide is 6.75 metres Chart Datum (3.70 mAOD) at Littlehampton. The tide will be very high. For 2 hours either side of high water, flooding of Quayside properties along Mill Lane, Sidlesham is expected. Strong winds and large waves will generate lots of spray, affecting the beach top properties and nearby roads in Selsey, Pagham, Bognor and Elmer. Large waves and minor flood impacts will still be possible on Tuesday afternoon. However, Tuesday's tide at 12:30 on 09/04/2024 is forecast to be 50cm lower (3.17 mAOD), so flood risk should be a little lower. We continue to monitor the forecast. The weather increases tide table values by 0.64 m. The total forecast tide is 6.31 metres Chart Datum (3.26 mAOD) at Littlehampton. For 1 hour either side of high water, Mill Lane, Sidlesham will flood, making access temporarily more difficult. Strong winds and large waves will generate lots of spray affecting the beach top properties and nearby roads in Selsey, Pagham, Bognor and Elmer. Friday evening’s tide will be 50cm lower. However, strong winds and large waves will continue over the weekend, albeit not as extreme.
