Tuesday's early morning tide at 00:30 on 09/04/2024 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather, with Gale Force 8 South Westerly winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.7 m. The total forecast tide is 6.75 metres Chart Datum (3.70 mAOD) at Littlehampton. For 2 hours either side of high water, spray overtopping will affect footpaths and esplanades, including Marine Drive at Ferring, West and Marine Parade, Worthing and West Beach and Shoreham Beach, Shoreham. Shingle and ponded water could affect the A259 near Brooklands. Large waves and minor flood impacts will still be possible on Tuesday afternoon. However, Tuesday's tide at 12:30 on 09/04/2024 is forecast to be 50cm lower (3.17 mAOD), so flood risk should be a little lower. We continue to monitor the forecast. We may inspect the condition of the beach at low tide. Stormy seas are dangerous. Avoid walking along the sea front over high tide. Shingle can be contained, carried and thrown in larger waves and spray. We will update this message by 18:00 on 09/04/2024.

Saturday afternoon's tide at 13:15 on 19/02/2022 is forecast to be higher than normal, and similar to Friday afternoon 18/02/2022. Gale Force 8 South Westerly winds and large waves increase tide table values by 0.55 m. The total forecast tide is 6.28 metres Chart Datum (3.23 mAOD) at Littlehampton. For 2 hours either side of high water, spray overtopping will affect footpaths and esplanades including Marine Drive at Ferring, Marine Parade, Worthing, Lancing and West Beach and Shoreham Beach, Shoreham. Shingle and water could affect the A259 near Brooklands. Strong winds and large waves will continue over the weekend, albeit not as extreme. After Saturday, the next highest tide is forecast to be 20cm lower, on Monday afternoon. However, spray and minor flood impacts will continue this weekend. We continue to monitor the forecast and we will inspect the condition of the beach at low tide. Avoid walking along the sea front over high tide, shingle can be contained, carried and thrown in waves and spray. We will update this message by 20:00 on 19/02/2022

Friday afternoon's tide at 12:15 on 18/02/2022 is higher than normal due to Storm Eunice, which brings Severe Gale Force 9 Westerly winds and very large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.64 m. The total forecast tide is 6.31 metres Chart Datum (3.26 mAOD) at Littlehampton. For 2 hours either side of high water, spray overtopping will affect footpaths and esplanades, including Marine Drive at Ferring, West and Marine Parade, Worthing and West Beach and Shoreham Beach, Shoreham. Shingle and ponded water could affect the A259 near Brooklands. Friday evening’s tide will be 50cm lower. However, strong winds and large waves will continue over the weekend, albeit not as extreme. Saturday’s midday tide could see a return of minor flood impacts, when tide levels could be similar to midday Friday. We continue to monitor the forecast. We will inspect the condition of the beach at low tide. Stormy seas are dangerous. Avoid walking along the sea front at high tide, shingle can be contained, carried and thrown in waves and spray. Wednesday's early morning tide at 01:45 on 08/12/2021 is forecast to be 30cm lower than Tuesday, but with much bigger waves and strong South Westerly Force 6 winds due to Storm Barra. The weather increases tide table values by 0.16 m. The total forecast tide is 6.09 metres Chart Datum (3.04 mAOD) at Littlehampton. For 2 hours either side of high water, spray overtopping will affect footpaths and esplanades including Marine Drive at Ferring, West and Marine Parade, Worthing and West Beach and Shoreham Beach, Shoreham. Shingle and ponded water could affect the A259 near Brooklands. Strong winds will continue until Thursday. However, wave heights, tide levels, flood impacts and risk should reduce from Wednesday afternoon. We continue to monitor the forecast. We may inspect the condition of the beach at low tide. Stormy seas are dangerous. Avoid walking along the sea front over high tide, shingle can be contained, carried and thrown in larger waves and spray. Tide heights will decrease by 10 cm each high water for the next two days. Strong South Westerly Force 5 to 6 winds will continue throughout Tuesday (02/02/2021), before easing on Wednesday (03/02/2021). Wave heights are still large and will increase on Tuesday evening, before decreasing on Thursday (04/02/2021). Shingle will still be moved and wave spray will affect sea front areas, particularly over the high tide periods (which are 14:30 on 02/02/2021, 03:00 and 15:15 on 03/02/2021). Small amounts of water may still potentially affect nearby fields, roads and beach top properties. However, the waves are not expected to run up the beach quite as much as they did on Monday. Please take care if visiting the sea front between Tuesday and Thursday. Large waves are very powerful and can contain hidden dangers such as flying debris. We will update this message by 12:00 on 03/02/2021.

Tuesday's early morning tide at 02:15 on 02/02/2021 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather, with strong Southerly Force 5 winds. The weather increases tide table values by 0.15 m. The total forecast tide is 5.95 metres Chart Datum (2.90 mAOD) at Littlehampton. For two hours either side of high tide, the high energy waves could run up the beach and affect footpaths and esplanades including Marine Drive at Ferring, West and Marine Parade, Worthing, West Beach and Shoreham Beach. Shingle and ponded water could affect the A259 near Brooklands. Tide levels should be a little lower on Tuesday afternoon, with smaller waves and less impacts too. We continue to monitor the forecast. We may inspect the condition of the beach at low tide. Moving shingle beaches can be dangerous. Please take care if near the seafront this evening. The total forecast tide is 6.23 metres Chart Datum (3.18 mAOD) at Littlehampton. For 2 hours either side of high water, spray overtopping will affect footpaths and esplanades including Marine Drive at Ferring, West and Marine Parade, Worthing and West Beach and Shoreham Beach, Shoreham. Shingle and ponded water could affect the A259 near Brooklands. Tuesday and Wednesday evening's tides will be a little higher again and further minor flooding is expected over those high waters. We continue to monitor the forecast and may inspect the beach condition. Avoid walking along the sea front over high tide, shingle can be contained, carried and thrown in spray. The total forecast tide is 6.38 metres Chart Datum (3.33 mAOD) at Littlehampton. For 2 hours either side of high water, spray overtopping will affect footpaths and esplanades including Marine Drive at Ferring, West and Marine Parade, Worthing and West Beach and Shoreham Beach, Shoreham. Shingle and ponded water could affect the A259 near Brooklands. There are high tides and large waves forecast until Thursday 13/02/2020. Thursday's early morning tide could be similar to recent days. Tuesday's tide at 12:45 will be lower, but could still cause minor impacts. We will update this message by 17:00 on 10/02/2020 with information of the high tide at 12:45 on 11/02/2020

Monday afternoon's tide at 12:00 on 10/02/2020 is higher than normal due to Storm Ciara which brings strong Force 7 westerly winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.5 m. The total forecast tide is 6.42 metres Chart Datum (3.37 mAOD) at Littlehampton. Strong winds and large waves are expected from 08:00 on Sunday 09/02/2020 as Storm Ciara passes across the South East. There is a risk of minor flooding from spray. High tides, large waves and the risk of flooding will remain similar until Thursday 13/02/2020. We continue to monitor the forecast. We may inspect the condition of the beach at low tide. Stormy seas are dangerous. Avoid walking along the sea front over high tide, shingle can be contained, carried and thrown in larger waves and spray.
