The flood warning for the River Wharfe at Denton Road Ilkley remains in force. River levels have been dropping in the upper catchments, but are now rising due to local rainfall. Levels are not expected to rise much further or reach yesterday’s levels. We are not expecting large amounts of rainfall through today and expect to remove the flood warning later on. Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Wharfe, with low lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around Properties around Denton Road, Middleton Avenue and the Cricket, Football and Rugby Grounds, the sewage works and Denton Bridge. We are monitoring river levels closely. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. This flood warning has been issued as river levels are forecast to rise as a result of heavy rainfall on Sunday. Consequently, flooding of property, roads and land in Ilkley is expected today Monday 2nd November. The area at risk is Denton Road, Ilkley. The River Wharfe at Ilkley is currently expected to peak at around 3.5m at 7am today, Monday. Please activate any property flood protection products you may have, such as flood barriers and air brick covers, and stay away from fast moving water. River levels are rising at Ilkely and will continue to rise all along the Wharfe catchment through Sunday afternoon. The Wharfe level at Ilkley is currently 3.2m and is expected to peak on Sunday afternoon at around 3.5m. We are monitoring the situation closely.
