River levels have fallen following yesterday’s heavy and persistent rainfall. Further rain is expected today, Tuesday 1/10/24. Whilst rivers may respond to this, we are not expecting levels to rise significantly. We are closely monitoring the situation.
Surface water may continue to affect low spots on roads. Please take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Areas most at risk are low-lying land and roads near rivers. Avoid using low-lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses.

Rising river levels throughout the evening, as a result of persistent rainfall, may lead to flooding.
Levels are expected to peak between 7pm and midnight.

Weather conditions are expected to improve overnight and into tomorrow morning and no further significant rainfall is expected over the coming days.

River levels are rising due to further heavy rain affecting the River Colne and Fenay Beck catchments.
Areas most at risk include River Colne, Fenay Beck and their tributaries.
Flooding is possible from around 8pm Saturday evening 09/12/23 into the early hours of Sunday morning 10/12/23. We currently expect the River Colne to peak through Huddersfield around 11:30 pm this evening. Further unsettled weather is expected throughout the rest of the weekend.
We will continue to closely monitor rainfall and river levels closely.
Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. Start acting on your flood plan if you have one.

River levels are forecast to rise on the River Colne, Dean Bottom and Fenay Beck due to heavy rainfall. Areas most at risk include locations near the River Colne, Dean Bottom and Fenay Beck, with low lying land expected to be most affected particularly around the River Colne, Fenay Beck and their tributaries.
Flooding of low-lying land near watercourses is possible from Friday morning, 20th October 2023. Further heavy rainfall is forecast throughout the weekend and river levels are expected to continue to rise. Our incident rooms are open and we are closely monitoring rainfall and river levels.

This flood alert has been issued as river levels are starting to rise following persistent rain over the weekend. Further spells of heavy rain are expected through into the early hours of Monday 24th July, may lead to the local becks rising again for a while before starting to fall overnight as the rain finally moves away southwards. This could lead to some localised surface water flooding. We are closely monitoring the situation.

This could lead to some localised surface water flooding. We are closely monitoring the situation.

River levels have now fallen below the flood risk threshold, and we expect to remove this Alert in the morning (22/2/2022).
Although further unsettled weather and showers are forecast, we are not expecting any further significant rainfall. Given the stormy conditions, stay well away from swollen watercourses and flood water and be aware of debris and surface water affecting roads. We are closely monitoring the forecast and will issue further flood alerts and warnings if required over the next few days.

River levels have risen as a result of persistent (heavy) rainfall overnight and this morning, Sunday 20th February. Due to the saturated conditions and thawing of any lying snow, river levels are likely to be particularly high throughout today. We are monitoring the situation closely on a 24 hour basis and will issue flood warnings if properties and parts of communities are expected to flood. Further rain is forecast and we currently expect river levels to peak again from 4 pm onwards today, 20/02/2022, and remain high overnight into Monday. Areas most at risk initially are low lying land and roads.
Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. Consider taking appropriate steps to prepare for possible flooding, such as moving things upstairs and getting flood protection equipment ready to put in place.

Due to the saturated conditions and thawing of any lying snow, rivers will respond readily to this rainfall and are likely to be particularly high through the afternoon, evening and overnight into Monday.

River levels are steadily rising in response to the band of rainfall crossing the area. The rain is expected to clear later this morning, Sunday 23rd February, with the River Colne through Huddersfield peaking around 8.00am to 9.00am. Levels should then fall later Sunday morning and through the afternoon.
Flooding of low-lying land and roads is possible overnight but we do not currently expect to issue flood warnings. Unsettled weather is expected for the coming week, with the possibility of some significant rainfall on Monday which may cause further flooding problems.

River levels fell below the flood risk threshold this afternoon, 22/02/20, after they rose in response to yesterday’s rainfall. However, this Flood Alert remains in force as the risk of flooding is expected to return early tomorrow morning, 23/02/20, in response to further rain.
This further rainfall is expected from midnight tonight, 22/02/20, into Sunday morning. We expect river levels to respond to this rain in the early hours of 23/02/20, and expect a similar response to that seen this morning, with peaks likely to occur around breakfast time. Flooding of low-lying land and roads is possible overnight and into tomorrow.

The current forecast indicates that the river response is likely to continue throughout the evening and overnight and peak early on Sunday morning, 16 February, at levels significantly lower than those seen during Storm Ciara last weekend. We do not currently expect to issue flood warnings.

Following recent rainfall which has left ground saturated, river levels are forecast to rise as a result of Storm Dennis. Rainfall is expected to intensify from midday today, 15 February 2020. Based on the current forecast, river levels are likely to react this afternoon and rise rapidly overnight due to the flashy nature of the catchment and peak around Sunday midday, 16 February. Flooding of properties, roads and farmland is possible this evening, into Sunday and beyond. Areas most at risk are Fenay Beck.

River levels are high as a result of the persistent heavy rainfall associated with Storm Ciara. Levels have peaked and are now falling but will remain high through Sunday (09/02/2020) evening. Although the heavy rainfall has eased, high winds and further showers are forecast this evening and into Monday, 10/02/2020. We urge residents to remain vigilant and avoid walking and driving through low-lying land or near local watercourses. Our incident room is open and we are monitoring the situation closely. River Colne, River Holme, Fenay Beck
River levels have risen and will continue to rise until around Sunday afternoon (09/02/2020) as a result of persistent heavy rainfall associated with Storm Ciara. Widespread rain and high winds is expected to continue through to midday Sunday. Consequently, the risk of flooding remains.
We urge residents to prepare, remain vigilant and avoid walking and driving through low-lying land or near local watercourses. Our incident room is open and we are monitoring the situation closely. We will update this message by 13:15 9/02/20, or as the situation changes.

We are issuing this flood alert for the River Colne, Holme and Fenay Beck due to forecast heavy rainfall associated with Storm Ciara. Widespread rain and high winds are forecast from Saturday evening (08/02/2020) through to Sunday lunchtime. We expect river levels to start rising around 1am on Sunday (09/02/2020) and to peak late Sunday afternoon. We urge residents to prepare, remain vigilant and avoid walking and driving through low-lying land or near local watercourses. Our incident room is open and we are monitoring the situation closely.
