A FLOOD WARNING has been issued for Berneray Causeway. The prevailing weather forecast, along with high tides and waves means that flooding from the sea is expected during Storm Franklin. Gale Force to Severe Gale Force westerly winds means that a combination of wave overtopping, spray and debris may result in the closure of the Berneray Causeway. Flooding is also possible to low lying land, roads and buildings including Polacher on Berneray and at Port nan Long. To find out if the road and causeway are closed please follow the Western Isles Police twitter feed https://twitter.com/WIslesPolice. The highest risk is either side of the high tides on Sunday 20th February, which at Berneray are at GMT 21:15. Strong southerly winds also means that a combination of wave overtopping, spray and debris may result in the closure of the Berneray Causeway. Flooding is also possible to low lying land, roads and buildings including Polacher on Berneray and at Port nan Long. The highest risk is either side of the high tides, which at Berneray are on Thursday 6th at 09:00 GMT. South Easterly gale force winds also means that a combination of wave overtopping, spray and debris may result in the closure of the Berneray Causeway. Flooding is also possible to low lying land, roads and buildings including Polacher on Berneray and at Port nan Long.
