Western Isles
A FLOOD ALERT has been issued for Western Isles. This Flood Alert is for coastal flooding. On Friday, high tides are expected to affect the area due to a storm surge and large waves associated with Storm Callum. The greatest risk is expected on Friday evening with high tide expected to peak from 8pm onwards at Leverburgh and from 9pm in Stornoway. Localised flooding to low-lying land and roads is likely. Spray and wave overtopping along coastal roads and sea fronts is also expected. SEPA will continue to monitor the situation and further updates will appear here if the situation changes. Remain vigilant and remember, it is your responsibility to take actions which help protect yourself and your property. Advice and information is also available through Floodline on 0345 9881188. This FLOOD ALERT is now in force until further notice and was sent by phone and sms free of charge to registered customers of our Floodline direct warning service. Large waves will bring a continuing risk of spray and wave-overtopping to exposed north and west facing parts of the coast through Friday evening and into Saturday. A surge and large waves will bring the risk of spray and wave-overtopping to exposed parts of the coast on Thursday.
