We expect river levels to fall slowly over the next few days but will remain higher than normal and sensitive to any further rainfall over the next few weeks. This is due to increasing ground water levels throughout the Bourne Valley. Flood barriers are now deployed to help to reduce the risk of flooding in St Mary Bourne. The weather is now fairly dry for the next 5 days. Avoid walking or driving through flood water. We will continue to monitor the river and weather forecast information. Bourne Rivulet
The water level in the Bourne Rivulet at St Mary Bourne is high and rising steadily. In the last 7 hours, 28mm of rain has been recorded at Andover. This follows months of prolonged wet weather. The river is currently bank full. This evening, the river will begin to flood land and gardens in St Marybourne, Stoke and Ibthorpe. During periods of further heavy rainfall, surface water could also flood parts of the B3048 road as water in the road will be unable to drain to the river effectively. Properties which are located directly on the main road could be affected as a result. Tonight, a further 5mm of rain is possible. From Friday 05/01/2024 to Monday 08/01/2024 dry weather is expected. The river is expected to remain much higher than normal during this time. We continue to monitor the forecast. We would like all residents to take action and ensure they can protect their property over the coming weeks. This Flood Alert will be updated by 16:00 on Friday 05/01/2024.

Bourne Rivulet
Water levels in the Bourne Rivulet are currently high but stable. Maintained by slowly rising groundwater levels (monitored in Vernham Dean), the river will remain high and responsive for the next 5 days. The 10 day weather forecast suggests a generally drier period than of late. However, this weekend (14/03/2020 and 15/03/2020) 5 to 10mm of rain is forecast and there is also a low possibility of rain on Tuesday (17/03/2020). Consequently, land, road and garden flooding, especially around St Marybourne, is expected to continue. We have deployed temporary barriers to manage river flows in St Marybourne, but would also encourage all residents to take action to ensure they can protect property over the next few weeks. We will continue to monitor the forecast. This Flood Alert will be updated by 12:00 on Wednesday 18/03/2020.
