The water level in the River Blackwater peaked today at about 2pm following heavy rainfall overnight and this morning (27/11/24). Levels are now steadily falling because of dry weather over the last 6 hours. A flood warning remains in force for the Blackwater at Wellow and Ower this evening. Minor flooding impacts will continue overnight and into tomorrow with out of bank flooding which will affect land and roads at West Wellow, Landford and Ower. The weather is mostly dry until the end of the week. We continue to monitor the forecast. Please avoid walking or driving through flood water. We will update this Flood Alert by 10:00 on Thursday 28/11/2024.

The water level in the River Blackwater at Ower and Cadnam River continues to fall following heavy rainfall over the weekend, when 56mm of rain was recorded in Romsey. Later this evening (Tuesday 26/11/24) further heavy rain is forecast with up to 40mm expected. If this rain impacts the river, then flooding of land, roads and a small number of properties is expected. It is possible that a Flood Warning will be reissued tomorrow. The weather will be dry from Thursday (28/11/24) to Saturday (30/11/24) so any flood impacts which do occur, will be relatively short term in nature. River Blackwater
The water level in the River Blackwater at Ower and Cadnam River is very high following heavy rainfall over the weekend, when 56mm of rain was recorded in Romsey. Today (Monday 25/11/24) there will be a continuation of flooding to land, fields and roads at Cadnam, West Wellow, Landford and Ower. The river will be exceptionally high at the Mill in East Wellow, but the water level is now slowly reducing. Today and tomorrow the weather is dry and the situation should continue to improve. On Wednesday (27/11/24) further rain is expected with up to 30mm forecast. If this rain impacts the river, then flood conditions will continue into the weekend. The water level in the River Blackwater at Ower and Cadnam River is very high following heavy rainfall on Saturday when 38mm of rain was recorded in Romsey. A Flood Warning is also in force. The river is currently flooding land, fields and roads at Cadnam, West Wellow, Landford and Ower, with potential properties affected at East Wellow. Today, (Sunday 24/11/24), further rain (10-20mm) is forecast in Hampshire before Storm Bert finally clears the area. The river will rise in response to this rain and is unlikely to peak until Monday afternoon. The weather outlook next week remains unsettled. We continue to monitor the forecast. River Blackwater
The water level in the River Blackwater at Ower, and Cadnam River is high and rising. In the last 12 hours, 22mm of rain has been recorded in Romsey. This is a modest amount but almost half a month’s rain has been recorded in the last 6 days. From 23:00 this evening (23/11/24) the river will begin to flood land, fields and roads at Cadnam, West Wellow, Landford and Ower. Water levels will also be very high around the mill building at East Wellow. Storm Bert will bring rain until midnight tonight. There will then be a temporary respite, but further rain is forecast on Sunday when 20-30mm is expected. In response to the rainfall today, the river will continue to rise until at least 07:00 tomorrow morning. With further rain tomorrow, it is likely that a Flood Warning for onset of property flooding will be issued in the morning. We continue to monitor the forecast. River Blackwater
Following heavy rainfall yesterday, the water level in the River Blackwater and Cadnam River remains elevated but is slowly returning to normal. Over the last three weeks we have recorded over two months’ worth of rain (154mm) so the river catchment is highly responsive. Today (Wednesday 09/10/24) and tomorrow (Thursday 10/10/24), a small amount of rain is forecast (up to 10mm) each day. This may cause a small rise in the river level over the next 48 hours, but is not expected to cause significant impacts. This flood alert is likely to be removed by 11:00 tomorrow (Thursday 10/10/24).

The water level in the River Blackwater at Ower, and the Cadnam River at Cadnam is high and rising. 26mm of rain has been recorded in Romsey on Tuesday afternoon, this is a relatively small amount but follows a period of persistent wet weather. From 05:00 Wednesday morning (09/10/2024), the river may flood land, fields and roads at Cadnam, West Wellow, Landford, and Ower. Water levels will also be very high around the mill building at East Wellow. It is possible that a further 20mm of rain could fall overnight. The river level could rise until 11:00 Wednesday morning (09/10/2024). If the river is affected by more heavy showers, property flooding may be possible. We continue to monitor the forecast. The water level in the River Blackwater at Ower and the Cadnam River at Cadnam is high and rising. In the last 12 hours, 25mm of rain has been recorded in Romsey, this is a modest amount but follows 9 days of persistent wet weather, where more than a month’s rain has been recorded. From 10:30 this morning (30/09/2024), the river will flood land, fields and roads at Cadnam, West Wellow, Landford and Ower. Water levels will also be very high around the mill building at East Wellow. Rain clears eastwards by lunchtime and a dry afternoon follows. Tomorrow (Tuesday 01/10/2024) only a small amount of rain (10mm) is forecast. The rest of the week should remain relatively dry. The river will rise until at least 14:00 this afternoon (30/09/2024). Water levels in the River Blackwater are high. Over 25mm of rainfall was recorded at Testwood in the last 24 hours. This is a significant amount of rain in a short period of time, and this is in addition to the prolonged rainfall which has been affecting the area over the last few months. Levels at Ower have peaked and are starting to fall slowly. There may be a few showers for the remainder of today (Sunday 28/04/2024). However, any rainfall totals are forecast to be small. The weather is forecast to be dry on Monday (29/04/2024) and Tuesday (30/04/2024). We continue to monitor the forecast. This is a large amount of rain in a short period of time. From 10:00 this morning (28/04/2024), the river will flood land, fields and roads at Cadnam, West Wellow, Landford and Ower. Water levels will also be very high around the mill building at East Wellow. Further light rain is forecast this morning. We expect the river will rise at least until 13:00 today (28/04/2024). Although water levels will be much higher than normal, property flooding is not currently expected. We continue to monitor the forecast. The water level in the River Blackwater at Ower and Cadnam River is high and rising. Last night, during a period of intense thunderstorms, 25mm of rain was recorded in 3 hours at Testwood. From 09:00 this morning (01/04/2024), the river will flood land, fields and roads at Cadnam, West Wellow, Landford and Ower. Water levels will also be very high around the mill building at East Wellow. We expect the river to rise until at least midday 12:00 on Monday 01/04/2024. Although water levels will be much higher than normal, property flooding is not currently expected. The weather should remain fairly dry over the next 24 hours with light showers. With only small amounts of rain forecast in that time, the river has a good chance to recover. We continue to monitor the forecast. From 09:00 this morning (Thursday 28/03/2024), the river will flood land, fields and roads at Cadnam, West Wellow, Landford and Ower. Water levels will also be very high around the mill building at East Wellow. In the next 24 hours, further rain is forecast with up to 30mm possible. Water levels will also be very high around the mill building at East Wellow. Rain is forecast to clear the area by midday today (02/03/24). Whilst this is a modest amount, it follows weeks of prolonged wet weather. From 17:00 this afternoon (Friday 01/03/2024), the river will flood land, fields, and roads at Cadnam, West Wellow, Landford and Ower. Water levels will also be very high around the mill building at East Wellow. Rainfall has mostly cleared the area today. We expect the river will continue to rise at least until 18:00 today (01/03/2024). Further rain (up to 15mm) is forecast on Saturday morning (02/03/2024). In the last 9 hours 12mm of rain has been recorded in Romsey, and 29mm over the past 32 hours. From 8pm this evening (22/02/2024) the river will flood land, fields and roads at Cadnam, West Wellow, Landford and Ower. Water levels will also be very high around the mill building at East Wellow. We expect the river will rise at least until 11pm this evening (22/02/2024). Although water levels will be much higher than normal, property flooding is not currently expected. Lighter rain is forecast for the remainder of today. Tomorrow, a small amount of rain, about 3mm, is forecast. We continue to monitor the forecast. Water levels on the River Blackwater remain high, but are stable. In the last 24 hours, nearly 25mm of rainfall was recorded at Testwood. This is a significant amount of rainfall, and follows weeks of prolonged rainfall. There will be flooding of land, fields and roads at Cadnam, West Wellow, Landford and Ower. Water levels will also be very high around the mill building at East Wellow. Flooding will continue for the next couple of days. The weather is now fairly dry over the next 3 days, so levels will start to fall during this time. Currently, some further rainfall is forecast on Tuesday (13/02/2024). If rain does affect the area then levels may rise again. At present, forecast rainfall totals are unlikely to flood property, but please expect the river to be higher than normal over the next few days. We continue to monitor the forecast. Water levels will also be very high around the mill building at East Wellow. Further rain is forecast over the next 24 hours. We expect the river will rise at least until 02:00 on Friday 09/02/2024. The water level in the River Blackwater at Ower and Cadnam is high but now falling after 35mm of rain was recorded at Romsey yesterday (04/01/2024). Only minimal rain is forecast for the next five days. The river level will continue to fall to more normal levels over the next 24 hours. Minor impacts to land between Landford and Wellow, and high water levels around the mill building at East Wellow will persist until at least 10:00 Saturday (06/01/2024). The water level in the River Blackwater at Ower and Cadnam is now slowly falling. Due to the saturated nature of the River Blackwater catchment (60mm of rain has fallen in the last 9 days), the river remains responsive to relatively small amounts of rain. Showers are forecast today (03/01/24) and tomorrow (04/01/24), from mid-day through to mid-night, heavy rain (20-30mm widespread with isolated totals of 45mm) is forecast. If realised, this may result in a flood warning being issued for Landford to Wade Bridge on the River Blackwater. The river will flood land, fields and roads at Cadnam, West Wellow, Landford and Ower and water levels will also be very high around the mill building at East Wellow. Today (Tuesday 12/12/23) the river will cause minor impact flooding to low lying land and roads. Rain has now cleared the area and the river should peak around 20:00. As it peaks it will be high around the mill building at Wellow, but is not expected to flood property. From tomorrow (Wednesday 13/12/2023) to Saturday (16/12/2023), the weather should remain dry and the river will lower. We continue to monitor the forecast. The water level in the River Blackwater at Ower and the Cadnam River at Cadnam, remains higher than normal, but has lowered following the heavy rainfall recorded yesterday (Saturday 9/12/23). Residual flood impacts to land, roads and gardens is expected to continue over the next 3 to 4 days. Showers are forecast tomorrow (11/12/23) but the volume of rain should be small (similar to today). The river may rise a little, but any associated impacts will be minor. On Tuesday (12/12/23) heavier rain is forecast with up to 20mm expected. If this volume of rain affects the river then more significant flooding will impact lands, roads and gardens. The water level in the River Blackwater at Ower and Cadnam River is rising. In the last 7 hours, 14mm of rain has been recorded at Romsey. Throughout Saturday (9/12/23) the river will continue to flood low lying land and roads. From 16:00, it will be very high around the mill at Wellow. Rain has now cleared the area. On Sunday (10/12/23) and Monday (11/12/23) only light showers are expected which should bring no more than 7mm of rain each day. This will give the river a chance to recover, though the water level will remain high into the middle of next week. The river will rise until at least 23:30 this evening. As it peaks, it will be higher than was recorded yesterday and may impact property. We continue to monitor the forecast. The water level in the River Blackwater at Ower and Cadnam River is high and rising. In the last 12 hours, 10mm of rain has been recorded at Romsey. Today (Thursday 07/12/23) the river will continue to flood low lying land and roads, and the water level will increase and become high around the mill at Wellow. Rain, heavy at times, is forecast for the rest of the afternoon, but should clear the area by 19:00 this evening. A further 10-25mm could fall within this time. The river will continue to rise throughout the course of the afternoon and is unlikely to peak until at least 23:00 this evening (07/12/23). It may peak at a very similar level (perhaps slightly higher) than observed last weekend (04/12/23). We continue to monitor the forecast. The river should peak by 21:00 this evening. As it peaks, the level may have increased by an additional 0.15m. The river will then remain very high for several hours before it begins to lower in the early hours of Monday morning (01/11/21). Showers are expected to continue over the next 3 hours. The river should peak in the early hours of Sunday morning around 02:00 (15/11/2020) and levels will begin to fall by early morning. Tomorrow (Sunday 15/11/2020) further rain is forecast with up to 15mm expected. If this rain also affects the river, then levels will remain much higher than normal until Monday (16/11/2020). Showery conditions are forecast throughout much of Sunday (25/10/20), potentially giving rise to significant rainfall accumulations (up to 25mm). Overnight, not as much rain affected the River Blackwater as we expected when we issued this message yesterday evening. While water levels will be high around the Mill building today, as long as pumps used to lower levels can operate, there should be few impacts. Rain will continue to affect the area this morning, although the intensity should decrease this afternoon. Tomorrow (Monday 05/10/2020) only small amounts of rain are forecast, which will give water levels a chance to recover. The weather forecast today has improved, with any remaining rain clearing this morning and mostly dry for the rest of the day. Thursday (16/01/2020) afternoon and evening will see showers, in some places locally heavy, of 7-10mm. This will cause river levels to rise again. Christmas Day will remain dry, before another band of rain arrives on Boxing Day (26/12/2019). There is still a significant volume of water flowing through the river. Today and tomorrow (Monday 23/12/2019) the weather forecast improves, with only very small amounts of rain expected (2-3mm).
