The groundwater level at the Terraces, Fonthill borehole has risen to 116.885m above sea level and is forecast to reach 119.47m by Sunday the 7th, this is very close to the January 2014 level of 119.88m which is the highest recorded since 2003 . For reference the peak level in January this year was 118.43m.
The weather over the next two weeks will continue unsettled with a heavier band of rain expected on Friday. Groundwater levels are expected to continue rising steadily overv the next week.

The level at the nearby Terraces, Fonthill borehole has risen to 116 metres above sea level. Flooding to properties from groundwater in the Dene Valley is now expected. The stream will remain high for several days. Ensure that pumps are operational and that other precautions such as airbrick covers and flood boards are in place. Avoid driving through flood water as the bow wave will cause properties to flood.
Further rainfall is expected on Wednesday and at the beginning of next week which will keep levels high. A high pressure system may bring a brief respite from about the 15th; this may provide an opportunity to replenish any property level resilience measures.

Following three months of above average rainfall, groundwater levels in the area have risen considerably, and with further rainfall forecast over the next ten days are set to rise yet further. Environment agency staff will continue to monitor the situation. Contact the local authority to report issues and for assistance or your flood warden for more local advice.
Flooding of roads some vulnerable properties is possible.
Residents may experience inundation of basements, septic tanks and sewer systems.
If you have a pump, make sure it is working and switched on. Think about alternative power sources in case of power cuts.
