River levels are forecast to rise as a result of persistent heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of low lying roads and farmland is possible from 16:00 on 05/02/2021. Rain will continue through the night and levels will rise steadily. Areas most at risk are riverside footpaths and low lying land and roads including footpaths at High Stanners in Morpeth and low lying areas at East Mill. We are closely monitoring the situation and Morpeth flood gates at High Stanners will be closed this afternoon. We currently are not forecasting the need to issue flood warnings for properties in the area but levels are forecast to rise slightly higher than they got to on Wednesday, 03/02/2021. We will continue to monitor the situation through the night. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. River levels are forecast to rise on the River Wansbeck and its tributaries as a result of persistent heavy rainfall today which is forecast to continue overnight and into Wednesday. Consequently, flooding of riverside footpaths and low lying land and roads is expected from 22:00 tonight, 19/01/21. Further heavy rainfall is forecast to continue falling across the catchment for the next few days and consequently we expect river levels to remain high. We are closely monitoring the situation and will issue Flood Warnings if necessary. Our incident response staff are out on the ground checking defences and clearing any blockages from rivers. We are closing the Morpeth flood gates. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. This message will be updated by 09:00 on 20/01/21, or as the situation changes.

River levels remain high on the River Wansbeck at the Morpeth river gauge as a result of persistent heavy rainfall from Storm Alex. No further rainfall is forecast and river levels will begin to fall throughout Sunday, 04/10/2020. We are monitoring river level forecasts closely and Morpeth flood gates have been shut overnight, 04/10/2020, as a precaution. We expect to open them later today. We do not expect to issue any flood warnings. This message will be updated by 15:00 today, 04/10/2020 or as the situation changes.

River levels are rising on the River Wansbeck at the Morpeth river gauge as a result of persistent heavy rainfall from Storm Alex. Further rainfall is forecast over the next 6 hours and we are likely to see river levels rise through the early hours of Sunday, 04/10/2020, peaking around dawn. We are monitoring river level forecasts closely and have operational teams on standby should we need to close the flood gates at Morpeth during the early hours of Sunday, 04/10/2020. River levels have risen on the River Wansbeck as a result of persistent heavy rainfall overnight and throughout the day. Consequently, flooding of riverside footpaths and low lying land and roads is possible until tomorrow morning, 11/08/2019 with river levels peaking between 18:00 and 20:00. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. Our operations team are out closing our flood gates in Morpeth. We are closely monitoring the situation and this message will be updated tomorrow morning, 11/08/2019, or as the situation changes.

The last 24 hours has seen heavy rainfall in the River Wansbeck catchment, leading to high river levels. Further rain is forecast to raise river levels slightly for the next few hours. The main areas of concern are Mitford and Morpeth. Levels suggest that there will be flooding to low lying land and roads. The rainfall is forecast to reduce significantly from around 10:30pm. River levels are predicted to peak at around midnight (Friday 16th March) in Morpeth. No flooding to properties is currently forecast and warnings are not expected to be issued. The flood gates at Morpeth are not currently closed. If the decision is made to close the flood gates then this message will be updated. Take care near the areas of concern. Avoid travelling along riverside roads and paths. We are monitoring river levels closely and are ready to send our operational teams out to clear any blockages from rivers. This message will be updated at 10am tomorrow, or earlier if the situation changes.

Over the last 24 hours we have seen heavy rainfall and snow melt in the River Wansbeck area. This has meant that levels in the River Wansbeck and its tributaries are high. Some flooding to low lying land and roads close to the river is expected. We expect the levels in the river to gradually return to normal on Wednesday. The situation is being monitored. Flood gates in Morpeth will remain closed overnight as a precaution until Wednesday morning. At this time we do not anticipate any flood warnings will be necessary. Take care near the areas of concern and monitor your local weather conditions. Avoid walking or driving along riverside roads and footpaths. We are monitoring river levels closely and our operational teams are on standby. This message will be updated or removed on Wednesday morning.

Overnight we have seen heavy rainfall in the River Wansbeck area. A combination of this and melting snow is causing rivers to rise. Although the rainfall will move away by mid Tuesday morning (6th March 2018) river levels are expected to rise through Tuesday morning and remain high throughout the day. Some flooding to low lying land and roads close to the river is expected. The situation is being monitored. Flood gates in Morpeth are being closed around 9am as a precaution. At this time we do not anticipate any flood warnings will be necessary. Take care near the areas of concern and monitor your local weather conditions. Avoid walking or driving along riverside roads and footpaths. We are monitoring river levels closely and our operational teams are in the area.
