Elevated tidal levels are expected to affect the foreshore as a result of high spring tides and surge conditions. Tides will be at their highest between 16:45 and 18:00 12/03/2020. Flooding to low lying land, footpaths and roads is possible during these times and conditions may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide. Our incident response staff are closely monitoring the situation. We will continue to monitor the forecast and re-issue this alert for tomorrow’s tide (13/03/2020) if necessary.

High Spring tides and a minor surge from a low pressure system are expected to cause higher than usual tides early tomorrow morning, 12/03/2020. Tides will be at their highest between 03:30 and 08:00 12/03/2020. Flooding to low lying land, footpaths and roads is possible during these times and conditions may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide. Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point. Our incident response staff are closely monitoring the situation. We will continue to monitor the forecast and re-issue this alert for tomorrow’s afternoon tide (12/03/2020) if necessary.

High Spring tides and a minor surge from a low pressure system are expected to cause higher than usual tidal levels this afternoon, Tuesday, 10/03/20. There is no wind or significant wave action expected, but wave overtopping is possible due to elevated tidal levels. Tides will be at their highest between 14:15 and 16:30 today, 10/03/2020. Flooding to roads and farmland is possible at these times, however conditions may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide. Areas most at risk are beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads. Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point. Please be careful along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous. Our incident response staff are closely monitoring the situation. This alert is issued for the high tide at Berwick Upon Tweed at 17:00 today, Tuesday 14th January. Waves are forecast to overtop sea defences with sea spray expected between 15:30 and 19:15 today, 14/01/2020. This is due to high spring tides and strong winds combined with low pressure in the North Sea. The main areas of concern are Berwick Pier Road, Berwick Pier Road Houses, Berwick between Bridges, and Berwick Dock and Main Road. People are advised to stay away from risk areas and take care next to the coast. We are monitoring the situation closely. Please stay aware in case further warnings are issued. Large and powerful waves are expected to affect the foreshore as a result of spring tides, low pressure and strong winds. Tides will be at their highest between 03:30 and 05:00 Thursday, 28/11/19, however conditions may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide. Areas most at risk are riverside footpaths and low lying land and roads with wind-blown spray and minor overtopping particularly likely to affect the area at Berwick Between Bridges. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded. We are closely monitoring the situation and this message will be updated by 10:00 on 28/11/19, or as the situation changes.

This alert is issued for the high tide forecast for early Monday morning, on the 28/10/2019. Tides will be at their highest between 02:30 and 03:45 on Monday morning as a result of particularly high astronomic tides and a surge. Expect water levels to be higher than usual, from the Whiteadder confluence to the North Sea Coast. Wind may cause spray, however flooding to properties in not expected. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and plan driving routed to avoid low lying roads, which may be flooded. Overtopping of roads and low-lying coastal areas is possible as a result of high spring tides. Consequently, flooding of roads and footpaths is possible between 04:00 and 07:00 BST on Tuesday 1st October. Flooding is most likely at high tide (at 05:30 BST), however conditions may apply two to three hours either side of the high tide. Areas most at risk are low lying land and roads at Berwick between bridges. Adverse coastal conditions are expected to continue until Wednesday and we may reissue this Alert on Tuesday morning for further high tides. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads and coastal roads, which may be flooded. This message will be updated by 11:00 on 01/10/19 or as the situation changes.

Onshore waves are expected to overtop sea defences as a result of the highest spring tides of the year. The tide will be at its highest tomorrow morning, 30/09/19, between 03:30am to 05:00am. Flooding to roads and farmland is possible at these times, however conditions may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide (04:45 BST). Areas most at risk are beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads at Berwick between bridges. Adverse coastal conditions are expected to continue into next week and we might reissue this Alert on Monday afternoon for further high tides. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please be careful along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could result in dangerous conditions. Spring tides and strong winds are forecast to cause some wave overtopping and spray within the estuary and in particular, impacts could be seen at Berwick between bridges throughout this period. The risk of flooding from the tidal River Tweed along the estuary at Berwick has now reduced. Tide levels are now reducing and there is no surge or further strong winds forecast. No further flooding to these areas is expected, however there may still be debris on roads that have been flooded. This alert is issued for the morning high tide on Wednesday 3rd January. High tide levels combined with some storm surge and local weather conditions may cause minor overtopping and windblown spray. The particular area of risk is around Bridge End Bridge between 02:15am and 04:15am. Expect tides to be higher than usual. People are advised to stay away from risk areas and take care along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous. No flooding of property is anticipated and we do not expect to issue any flood warnings for this area. This alert is issued for the high tide at the Tweed Estuary. The North East is currently experiencing relatively high tides and for the Thursday evening high tide we will experience an approximate 0.7m surge due to the Storm Caroline low pressure system. The storm will also create significant waves and overtopping is expected between 5.00pm and 7.00pm at Pier Road and at other low lying areas of Berwick. We expect to also issue the flood warning for Berwick. Extreme care should be taken close to exposed coastal locations due to the risk of crashing waves. We will continue to monitor the situation and reissue this Alert for any subsequent tides if required. Subsequent tides on Friday 08/12 and into the weekend are likely to pose less risk.
