Levels at Skip Bridge have peaked but remain above 3m, however, we expect levels to fall slowly during Saturday into Sunday. Low lying land adjacent to the riverside may still be affected by standing water. Snow showers forecast over the weekend are not expected to cause any further impact on river levels. Levels at Skip Bridge affected by Friday’s rainfall are now peaking at around 3.5m. Snow showers forecast over the weekend are not expected to cause any further impact on river levels. We should start to see levels falling later today and into Sunday. However, low lying land and fields may still be affected by standing water. We will continue to monitor the situation. This flood alert has been issued as a result of high levels at Skip Bridge on the River Nidd to where it joins the River Ouse. River levels have been rising gradually throughout Friday in response to recent rainfall. The level at Skip Bridge has reached 3m and is expected to remain above this level overnight. Further bands of rain and snow showers are forecast but we do not anticipate this to cause any further significant impact, and we should see levels starting to fall during Saturday into Sunday. The River level at Skip Bridge is currently 3.1m and is expected to rise slowly to a peak of approximately 3.3 m between 6 pm and 8 pm this evening, Wednesday 25th October. The river levels will remain high overnight but are not expected to rise further. The Environment Agency will continue to monitor the situation.
